A CASE STUDY

The Challenge

The John H. McArthur Distinguished Fellowship is an initiative established by the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada to honour John H. McArthur, an exemplary Canadian, world-renowned business educator and former Chair of the APF Canada Board of Directors. In 2021, the winner of the Fellowship was Zanny Minton Beddoes, Editor-in-Chief of The Economist, who is based in the UK. Given travel restrictions and public health orders, the Asia Pacific Foundation asked for our help in presenting Ms. Minton-Beddoes with the Distinguished Fellowship.

The Solution

Using specialized software, we were able to connect Ms. Minton Beddoes and former Governor General, the Honorable David Johnston to the in-studio hosts for a seamless virtual event. Ms. Minton Beddoes’ virtual connection to the event allowed for her to give a keynote and participate in a Q&A, all from the comfort of her home in the UK.

The Result

The Asia Pacific Foundation was successfully able to award the Distinguished Fellowship to Ms. Minton Beddoes regardless of public health orders and travel restrictions, allowing for a more flexible ceremony with speakers across Canada the the world.
