Cathie Hamm: Heroics Through Chaos

Wildfires impact everyone and everything

This year has been one of the worst wildfire seasons on record in British Columbia – even worse than last year’s.

At the time, Cathie Hamm of Williams Lake was terrified like everyone else. Little did she know that she would end up being one of the community’s most vital helpers.

Answering the call

Cathie did not like the feeling of not doing anything, so when the city called her in to help, it felt like a relief. And she was happy to help.

“This is my town. There’s a relationship there – a responsibility.”

In recognition for her work, she was recently awarded the Excellence in Patient Care Award from the BC Pharmacy Association.

We got a chance to meet Cathie and talk to her colleagues about her incredible efforts during one of the most difficult times possible.
