Today marks 3 months into my job with Oh Boy Productions and in this time a whole lot has happened. My skill set has continued to grow, I’ve seen more of British Columbia in 3 months than I have in the past 6 years, and I’ve had a great time while doing it! The team here is very talented and a pleasure to work with.
It’s been really nice seeing more of British Columbia. One project brought us to Vancouver Island and a handful of cities East of Vancouver. One of my favourites was the small community of Agassiz which boasts a population of roughly 6,000. When we pulled up to our shooting location there the local residents were beyond friendly and it seemed as though everyone gave us a nod or wished us a good day- a nice change from the crowds of Vancouver which can often create a social distance. In addition to the friendly people, Agassiz is surrounded by some of the most interesting looking mountains that I’ve seen in a while. I’ll definitely be visiting again for some camping or hiking.
Another one for the books was when I was off on a solo shoot…by scooter! Gear I had included audio equipment, a DSLR with two lenses, a tripod, shoulder rig, lighting setup and stand, and my personal belongings. I stuffed half of the gear into my makeshift trunk on my scooter and the rest in a giant waterproof backpack and hauled my way through the rain onto the North Shore of Vancouver. While it’s no fancy automobile I’ve sure had some grand adventures with my scooter and there will definitely be a lot more to come!
